Friends of Noah are awesome

Creative friends can be kids too! This past weekend two of Noah’s friends decided, all on their own with no pushing from adults, to do something to support Noah’s Light Foundation. Nicky and his cousin, Belle, both ten years old, got up before the sun and set-up a lemonade stand. Charging only 25 cents per cup, they were able to raise an amazing $112 dollars!

Nicky’s mom, Ann recounts the weekend:

I came home from work on Friday to the hubbub… Nicky and his Cousin Belle, who are both ten and in fifth grade together, had convinced their grandmother to take them to the store. They needed to buy supplies they had informed her. You see, our neighborhood was having their spring garage sale and the Otis Twins as we call them (that’s another story) had decided they were going to take the opportunity to make a lemonade stand. All proceeds from the day would go to Noah’s Light Foundation.

Well they were serious about their venture. The dry erase board was their strategic planning center where they listed all needed materials for a successful day; Lemonade mix, cups, paper towels, fliers, money box, table, sunglasses, etc. By the time I arrived on the scene Friday evening the Otis Twins informed me that they NEEDED to have a sleepover. Nicky argued his case for a sleepover stating that it was really more of a business meeting, as they still had planning to do and, besides Mom we have to start work at 6:30am. Sleepover approval secured.

Well, sure enough at 6:30am there was a knock on our bedroom door and they were ready to go. Unbeknownst to me, Nicky had gone onto your website and stolen all of your Noah’s Light Foundation logos and verbiage. I did help him print up some fliers, because they wanted to make sure they told everyone Noah’s website address. They made their first batch of lemonade, set everything up in a strategic location and waited for their first customer. Things started off a bit slow. It seems not many like the taste of sweetened lemonade at 7 o’clock in the morning. They were a bit shy at first taking some time to warm up their call to action, but once they got their first big sale, it was all smooth sailing. Good morning! Would you like to help cure brain tumors in children? Help stop brain cancer in children! They told everyone that would listen about Noah and his foundation and about the great work you are doing. The most thrilling thing for them was when people would give them money and not even want the lemonade. We heard stories from families also effected by cancer. One gentleman stopped to tell me the story of his nephew diagnosed with cancer in his nasal passage on Sept 11th, he was five at the time. He explained that he fought a long tough battle and he is now a flourishing 13 year old and so smart, colleges are already calling him!

Well, the Otis Twins raised $112 dollars with their stand and they haven’t stopped glowing since they started their endeavor. You see, I think there really is a lot to the name you chose for the foundation. The LIGHT that Noah brought to our neighborhood this weekend is glowing brightly now in all those people that Nicky and Belle spoke to. And I know that Saturday’s lemonade stand meant more to Nicky and Belle than any lesson well ever be able to share with them. Thank you for letting all of us feel the glow of the light that is Noah!
