Team Noah Shines Our Light on runDisney Races of all Distances

Fall of 2013 and early 2014 has been a busy time for Noah’s Light Foundation! Team Noah has had a strong turnout at three runDisney events and has even produced winners of two different races.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend yielded winners in both the Happy Haunted 5K – John Miller – and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler – Garret Drogosch. Between both their wins and other Team Noah members’ involvement, our green shirts were everywhere during the races and we got a lot of recognition from guests and other runners! Many of whom expressed an interest in our organization and asked for details about running with Team Noah in the future.

During the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend in early November, our team was a group of runners from various backgrounds, including the military! We met at the ESPN Wide World of Sports for a pre-race snack party, complete with cheerleaders and a short movie to thank all of our runners. We also rented space at the runners’ expo in the days leading up to the event, which proved to be a great way to spread our message! We spoke to thousands of attendees about our cause, and even signed up almost 20 runners for future races.

WDW Marathon Weekend wrapped up just a few days ago and we had several runners finish races that ranged from a 5K to a full marathon. We even had a few Dopey Challenge runners who competed in the 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon – in just four days! Team Noah met for a pasta party the night before the half marathon and it was a great opportunity for Noah’s Light Foundation staff and Team Noah runners to meet each other after a long period of getting to know each other over just phone and emails. It was great to finally put faces with names!

The most amazing part of WDW Marathon Weekend was that one of our runners, Cheri, got engaged! After completing the full marathon – the final leg of her Dopey Challenge, her boyfriend, Scott, surprised her on stage with an engagement ring. But Cheri had a surprise of her own – she had planned to propose to Scott as well! Once she accepted his proposal, Cheri also bent down on one knee and presented Scott with a ring. Talk about a committed couple! Congratulations to the happy couple.

Congratulations to all Team Noah runners, who we hope will choose to run with us again. Remember, with your help, we NOAH cure is possible!
